WOLF or VULTURE?

By Robert Jones

Wolf or Vulture?
For simplicity, I will group criminals into two categories. They are either a wolf or a vulture. The animal’s name best describes the criminal’s behavior. Although some criminals occupy both descriptions at different times, the vast majority of criminals neatly fit into one or the other group.

The vulture is a scavenger. It feeds on whatever dead thing it can find. It always flees to avoid a fight. It only approaches something alive when it is sure its victim is too weak to resist. The criminals in this class are the smash and grab robbers and burglars. They avoid occupied dwellings and if challenged flee. They steal cars or smash out the car window to steal the radio/CD player. They steal anything lying around loose. They shoplift. If they can carry it off, it is theirs.

The wolf is a predator. It stalks its victim, attacks without mercy, and kills its prey. It fears nothing except larger, meaner predators. The wolf can be alone or part of a group that works together to hunt down their prey. The criminals in this group are the murders, rapists, child molesters, armed robbers, home invaders, car jackers and, muggers. Not only do these criminals not mind hurting you to get what they want, many truly enjoy hurting and killing you.

Both the vulture and the wolf look alike. It is their response that enables you to tell them apart. Suppose you hear a “bump” in the night, and get out of bed to investigate. You find a stranger in your living room. If when he sees you he runs out the nearest exit to get away, he is a vulture. Your biggest danger is being run over by this criminal as he tries to get away.

If when he sees you he does NOT run or worse yet moves towards you, he is a wolf. You and your loved ones are now in grave danger. He will beat, stab, shoot, burn, rape, torture, and kill you. After that, he will continue where he left off at robbing you.

Any time you need to investigate a suspicious noise or sight, go prepared to deal with a wolf or don’t go at all.

There are a lot more vultures in the world than there are wolves. It is for that reason most home security programs are set-up to deter the vulture instead of stopping the wolf. It is more difficult (and more expensive) to stop the wolf. However… If your system stops the wolves, the vultures are not going to bother you much.

So What are You Worried About?

By Robert Jones

So What Are You Afraid Of?

Inevitability when the subject of security comes up someone will make a comment such as: What are you afraid of, the Boogeyman? I always reply: no, the boogeyman is not real. There are enough real murders, rapists, child molesters, armed robbers, car jackers, purse snatchers, pick pockets, and burglars, running around loose. I don’t have time to worry about the make-believe threats.

Last year, there were about 17,000 murders and 90,000 rapes in this country! Google “FBI crime statistics” for a real eye-opener of how much crime is committed against the honest citizens of America each year. You can also look at the crime victim’s clock. This clock breaks down how often each type of crime occurs (by the day, hour, minute, and second).

We have about 2,000,000 (Two Million) criminals behind bars right now. Once these criminals are released back into society, about three out of every four will commit new crimes, and wind-up back in prison. Fortunately, the more violent the crime, the less often it occurs.

While there were about 17,000 murders, there were over a million property crimes (burglaries/auto theft/est.) last year. The sad simple fact is that for most people, it is only a matter of when, not if, they will be a victim of crime.

Although you are more likely to be burglarized than murdered, you still aren’t safe. There is a very disturbing trend in America. What used to be considered simple property crimes are now turning into crimes of violence. Burglars used to avoid targets where people were at home. Now home invasions are becoming common.

A home invasion is where a criminal deliberately targets a house while the homeowners are there. They deliberately, assault, torture, rape, and kill, the occupants, while robbing them. The property they steal is secondary to the thrill they get from physically and psychologically tormenting another human being. About 20 years ago, I discovered that older prison inmates were teaching the younger inmates how not to get caught. It was a very simple concept. When you commit a crime, you kill all of the witnesses. If no one can identify you to the police, they can’t know who to arrest.

We now have the most violent generation of criminals in American history. The famous depression era gangster Al Capone looks like a wimp when compared to today’s violent thugs. The police cannot protect you! They are very good at solving a crime after it occurs. Only you can protect yourself and your loved ones from the criminals that want to prey on you.

You now know the statistics. You now need to determine for yourself that you will not be a victim. Learn what it takes to deter, delay, and to stop a criminal. Then put that knowledge into action.

So… You Want to be 100% Safe and Secure?

By Robert Jones

So... You Want to be 100% Safe and Secure?

My best recommendation is for you to gather ALL of your money and possessions together and give them to the Federal Government. (Campaign contributions to your U.S. Representative and Senator are the most effective way of accomplishing this). Now… beg them for permission to live in the gold storage facility at Fort Knox. Should they give you permission; you will be living in a high security vault guarded by the U.S. Army. This should effectively protect you from 99.5% of the threats in the world.

Notice that even here, you are still vulnerable to .5% of the threats in the world. If this sounds like utter stupidity, congratulations, it is! The simple truth is: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BEING 100% SAFE AND SECURE! If anyone tells you something different, you should grab your wallet with both hands and quickly back away. All of life is a risk. You must sort out for yourself what is an acceptable risk, and what is not.

Some security options will require lifestyle changes. Before you start making security plans you need to know what you want to protect and what you want to protect it from.

Far too many people invest enormous amounts of time, effort, and money, to protect the wrong things from the wrong threats. It is not that difficult. You are intelligent enough to operate a computer and find this blog. Therefore you are intelligent enough to go about this in a simple, systematic manner.

The first step is for you to make a list of what you want to protect, and the threat you want to protect it from. Prioritize the list. Place the most important item at the top of the list and the least important at the bottom. NOTE: If the very first item at the top of your list is NOT your loved ones and yourself immediately log out of this blog and get some professional help. Do not come back until you have a life where people are more important than things. Property can always be replaced. Life and limb are irreplaceable.

WARNING: This is a blog. It is only a blog.

By Robert Jones

WARNING!!! This is a blog! It is only a blog!

What you are about to read is my “PERSONAL OPINION”. It is only my opinion. I strongly encourage you to consult with other sources that you trust before taking action based upon what you read here.

Anybody can say anything at anytime. Since the topic I will be discussing is security you should start now to move into a security mindset. Check and double check what is true and what is not. I am NOT RESPONSIBLE for any loss or injury you may suffer (physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, or metaphysically) should you act upon the opinions that I express here!

My purpose for this blog is to discuss “security’. Unfortunately, most people look at security as if it were a mountain. Something too high to climb over, too deep to crawl under, too dense to tunnel through, and too wide to go around. It is simply too big to wrap their minds around, so they give up. There are a few paid professionals out there who work hard to perpetuate this illusion.

I look at security as a big pile of Lego blocks. (Those little self connecting blocks you snap together. The ones you played with as a kid and the only limit to what you could build with them…was your imagination). I intend to break-down security into tiny understandable pieces. I will explain what does and doesn’t work and why.

You will see how to take these individual pieces and put together something that meets YOUR needs.

If you are intelligent enough to find and read this blog you will have no serious problems creating a security strategy that works for you.
